Eligibility and Duration:
- MA: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (General/Special) in the relevant subject area from a recognized university or an accepted academic/professional qualification. Duration: 1 year.
- MSSc: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (Special with a Class) in a relevant subject area from a recognized university or an accepted academic/professional qualification. Duration: 2 years with research.
- MSSc in Library and Information Science: Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree (General/Special) from a recognized university and one year of professional experience in a recognized library, or a Bachelor’s degree (General/Special) with the Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science from the University of Kelaniya or a pass in the Final Examination of Sri Lanka Library Association.
Medium of Instruction:
The programs are conducted in both Sinhala and English. The Master’s programs in Sociology and Economics are conducted exclusively in English.
Application Process:
- Pay the Application Fee:
To initiate the application process, applicants are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 1000/-. You can make the payment either by credit card or deposit the amount into the People’s Bank account number 055-1001-8066-9229. - Online Application:
Visit the official website of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at www.fgs.kln.ac.lk. Here, you have two options:
- Apply online: Fill out the application form available on the website. Ensure all the required fields are completed accurately.
- Download the Application: Alternatively, you can download the application form from the website(), print it, and fill it out manually.
Application Collection:
If you prefer a physical application form, you can collect it directly from the office of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Kelaniya.
Submitting the Application:
After completing the application form and gathering the necessary documents, you have two submission options:
- In-Person Submission: You can submit your application form and supporting documents in person by handing them over to the Deputy Registrar at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Kelaniya.
- Registered Post: Alternatively, you can send your application form and documents via registered post to the Deputy Registrar at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, Kelaniya. It’s important to indicate “Registration for the MA/MSSc in [subject name] in 2023” on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
Required Documents:
Ensure that you include the following documents along with your application:
- Duly completed and signed application form.
- Certified copies of your educational and professional qualification certificates.
- Bank receipt confirming the payment of the application fee.
Course Fee and Closing Date:
- MA: Rs. 150,000/-
- MSSc: Rs. 180,000/-
Course fees can be paid in four installments. The closing date for applications is 14th July 2023.
